This Privacy Policy applies to all users, including both users who are simply viewing content available via the Services and users who have registered as members of OppScen, it covers our data collection practices and describes your rights to access, correct, or restrict our use of your personal data.

  • Third-party Social Media Service refers to any website or any social network website through which a User can log in or create an account to use the Service.

  • Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).

What Data does OppScen?

We take the data you provide to us very seriously, and we strive to put you in control of decisions around your information.

You can use many features of the Service without registering for an account or providing any other personal information. If you create an account on the  Platform, or communicate with OppScen, you may provide to OppScen what is generally called “Personal Information” or “Personal Data,” such as your full name, birthdate, email address or other information that can be used to identify you. Information which cannot be used to identify you as an individual is “de-identified” or non-personal information.

Data and content you provide

We collect the content, communications and other information you provide when you use our Products, including when share content, buy or sell, list a job, message or communicate with others. This can include information in or about the content that you provide (e.g. metadata), such as the location of a photo or the date a file was created. It can also include what you see through features that we provide, such as when you upload a photo, so we can do things such as suggest file size, photo dimensions and pixels. Our systems automatically process content and communications that you and others provide.

  • User data & Special

You can choose to provide information in your membership account on OppScen profile fields or nicknames, username you prefer to use. Some information it kept public such as usernames and display names whereas some we keep it between you and us, for security reasons such as date of birth, email addresses. For external marketers using our services such as selling on our market place “InStore” (“Vendor Marketplace”) or companies and universities listing their services (such as ,available vacancies, university application openings) we choose to display some information for customers or clients to communicate with them privately.

  • Networks and connections

We collect information about the people, accounts, library, events courses and social groups that you are connected to and how you interact with them across our Products, such as people you communicate with the most or groups that you are part of. We also collect information about courses you are enrolled to, forums an course’s groups you interact with most.

  • Profile Data

You can also choose to provide profile information like a photo, headline, biography, language, website link, social media profiles, country, or other data. Your Profile Data will be publicly viewable by others.

  • Shared Content

Parts of the Services let you interact with other users or share content publicly, including by posting reviews on a course page, asking or answering questions, sending messages to students or instructors, or posting photos or other work you upload, and uploading files on our library. Such shared content may be publicly viewable by others depending on where it is posted.

  • Profile Data

You can also choose to provide profile information like a photo, headline, biography, language, website link, social media profiles, country, or other data. Your Profile Data will be publicly viewable by others.

  • Course data

When you enroll in and take courses, we collect certain data including which courses, assignments and quizzes you’ve started and completed; course purchases and credits, gamifications, subscriptions, course certificates, your exchanges with instructors, teaching assistants, and other students; and assingments, answers to questions, and other items submitted to satisfy course requirements. If you are an instructor, we store course content that may contain data about you.

  • Student Payment Data

If you make purchases, we collect certain data about your purchase (such as your name and zip code) as necessary to process your order. You must provide certain payment and billing data directly to our payment processing partners, including your name, credit card information, billing address, and zip code. For security, OppScen does not collect or store sensitive cardholder data, such as full credit card numbers or card authentication data. Our payment data experies within days after once-off payment has been made

  • Customer Payment Data

If you make purchases, we collect certain data about your purchase (such as your name and zip code) as necessary to process your order. You must provide certain payment and billing data directly to our payment processing partners, including your name, credit card information, billing address, Shipping address and zip code. We use external services for shipping and delivery. We might receive information about you from other sources, such as updated delivery and address information from our carriers, which we use to correct our records and deliver your next purchase more easily.

  • Instructor Payment Data

If you are an instructor, you can link your PayPal, PayFast, or other payment account to the Services to receive payments. When you link a payment account, we collect and use certain information, including your payment account email address, account ID, physical address, or other data necessary for us to send payments to your account. In some instances, we may collect ACH or wire information to send payments to your account. In order to comply with applicable laws, we also work with trusted third parties who collect tax information as legally required. This tax information may include residency information, tax identification numbers, biographical information, and other personal information necessary for taxation purposes. For security, OppScen does not collect or store sensitive bank account information. The collection, use, and disclosure of your payment, billing, and taxation data is subject to the privacy policy and other terms of your payment account provider.

  • Professional Information
If you represent a business onOppScen , we may collect and display information about you related to your business activities, such as a business name that may incorporate your name, or a publicly available business address that is also used as a home address. We will also collect and display information about your professional background that you choose to share with us through the Service, such as information about your professional licenses or certifications, or your professional history or specialties. This helps us when you advertise on our platform or list any vacancines and job applications . We require location of your business which is automatically collected using API’s for location (including geolocation, beacon based location, and GPS location)
  • Data About Your Accounts on Other Services

We may obtain certain information through your social media or other online accounts if they are connected to your OppScen account. If you login to OppScen via Facebook or another third-party platform or service, we ask for your permission to access certain information about that other account. For example, depending on the platform or service we may collect your name, profile picture, account ID number, login email address, location, physical location of your access devices, gender, birthday, and list of friends or contacts.

Those platforms and services make information available to us through their APIs. The information we receive depends on what information you (via your privacy settings) or the platform or service decide to give us.

If you access or use our Services through a third-party platform or service, or click on any third-party links, the collection, use, and sharing of your data will also be subject to the privacy policies and other agreements of that third part

  • Communications and Support
If you contact us for support or to report a problem or concern (regardless of whehter you have signed in or sign up), we collect and store your contact information, messages, and other data about you like your name, email addresses, messages, location, OppScen  user ID, refund transcation ID’s, and any other data you provide or that we collect through our automated means (which we cover below). We use this data to respond to you and research your questions or concern, in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

  • System Data
We collect technical data about your computer or device, like your IP address, device type, operating system type and version, unique device identifiers, browser, browser language, domain and other systems data, and platform types (“System Data”)
  • Usage Data

Usage statistics about your interactions with the Services, including courses accessed, time spent on pages or the Service, pages visited, features used, your search queries, click data, date and time, referrer, and other data regarding your use of the Services (“Usage Data”)

  • Approximate Geographic Data

An approximate geographic location, including information like country, city, and geographic coordinates, calculated based on your IP address.

  • Usage Data

Usage statistics about your interactions with the Services, including courses accessed, time spent on pages or the Service, pages visited, features used, your search queries, click data, date and time, referrer, and other data regarding your use of the Services (“Usage Data”)

The data listed above is collected through the use of server log files and tracking technologies, as detailed in the “Cookies and Data Collection Tools” section below. It is stored by us and associated with your account.

Cookies and Data Collection Tools

We use cookies, which are small text files stored by your browser, to collect, store, and share data about your activities across websites, including on OppScen . They allow us to remember things about your visits to our platform, your saved passwords, shipping and billing details, and to make the site easier to use. Learn more about cookies

OppScen and service providers acting on our behalf (like Google Analytics and third-party advertisers) use server log files and automated data collection tools like cookies, tags, scripts, customized links, device or browser fingerprints, and web beacons (together, “Data Collection Tools“) when you access and use the Services. These Data Collection Tools automatically track and collect certain System Data and Usage Data (as detailed in Section 1) when you use the Services. In some cases, we tie data gathered through those Data Collection Tools to other data that we collect as described in this Privacy Policy.

Why We Use Data Collection Tools

lLamar Academy uses the following types of Data Collection Tools for the following purposes:

  • Strictly Necessary: These Data Collection Tools enable you to access the site, provide basic functionality (like logging in, buying or selling a product, listing a job, uploading a library file or simply enrolling in courses and searching the entire OppScen site), secure the site, protect against fraudulent logins, and detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized use of your account. These are required for the Services to work properly, so if you disable them, parts of the site will break or be unavailable.
  • Functional: These Data Collection Tools remember data about your browser and your preferences, provide additional site functionality, customize content to be more relevant to you, and remember settings affecting the appearance and behavior of the Services (like your preferred language or volume level for video playback, your country currency and location).
  • Performance: These Data Collection Tools help measure and improve the Services by providing usage and performance data, visit counts, traffic sources, or where an application was downloaded from. These tools can help us test different versions of OppScen to see which features or content users prefer and determine which email messages are opened, or which text, posts and files are viewed or opened.
  • Advertising & Listing: These Data Collection Tools are used to deliver relevant ads or listings (on the site and/or other sites) based on things we know about you like your Usage and System Data (as detailed in the above Section), and things that the ad service providers know about you based on their tracking data. The ads can be based on your recent activity or activity over time and across other sites and services. To help deliver tailored advertising, we may provide these service providers with a hashed, anonymized version of your email address (in a non-human-readable form) and content that you share publicly on the Services.
  • Social Media: These Data Collection Tools enable social media functionality, like sharing content with friends and networks. These cookies may track a user or device across other sites and build a profile of user interests for targeted advertising purposes.

You can set your web browser to alert you about attempts to place cookies on your computer, limit the types of cookies you allow, or refuse cookies altogether. If you do, you may not be able to use some or all features of the Services, and your experience may be different or less functional. How do we use the data you provide us?

  • Provide, personalise and improve our Products.

We use the data we have to deliver our Products, including to personalise features and content (including your Social Feed, Featured products, Active chats and listings) and make suggestions for you (such as social groups, courses or events that you may be interested in or topics and forums that you may want to follow) on and off our Products. To create personalised Products that are unique and relevant to you, we use your connections, preferences, interests and activities based on the data that we collect and learn from you and others (including any data with special protections you choose to provide, as mentioned in the above section), how you use and interact with our Products; and the people, places or things that you’re connected to and interested in on and off our Products.

  • Data across OppScen Products & Services

We connect data about your activities on different OppScen Products & Services to provide a more tailored and consistent experience on all OppScen Products that you use, wherever you use them. For example, we can suggest that you join a forum on OppScen that links with the group you have joined  or automically join you to a group offered by a course you have enrolled in. We can also make your experience more seamless, for example, by automatically filling in your registration information (such as your phone number) from one OppScen Product when you sign up for an account on a different Product like vendor registration, or a listing.

  • Location-related data

We use location-related data – such as your current location, where you live, and the businesses and people you’re near – to provide, personalise and improve our Products, including listings, for you and others. Location-related data can be based on things such as precise device location (if you’ve allowed us to collect it), IP addresses and information from your and others’ use of OppScen Products (such as check-ins or events you attend).

  • Promote safety, integrity and security.
We use the data that we have to verify accounts and activity, combat harmful conduct, detect and prevent spam and other bad experiences, maintain the integrity of our Products, and promote safety and security on and off our Products. For example, we use data that we have to investigate suspicious activity or breaches of our Terms or Policies, or to detect when someone needs help.
  • Communicate with you.
We use the data that we have to send you marketing communications, communicate with you about our Products and let you know about our Policies and Terms. We also use your information to respond to you when you contact us or when you are using our ecommmerce services, buying and enrolling in a course or forums.
  • To understand, improve, and develop our Products and Services

We use all of the data you provide or that we collect from you to understand and analyze the usage trends, learning behaviors, and preferences of our users, to improve the way the Service works and looks, and to create new features and functionality.

Who We Share Your Data With.

OppScen takes great care to protect the data you provide us. We do not rent or sell Personal data that we collect from users with third parties. OppScen will disclose sensentive and confidential personal data when you post content which is visible to others on the Service, when you consent or instruct us to share your personal data with third parties, or when we have a legitimate business or legal need to share your data. We may also disclose anonymous or aggregate information that does not reasonably identify you as an individual.

We share certain data about you with instructors, other students, companies performing services for us, our business partners, analytics and data enrichment providers, your social media providers, companies helping us run promotions and surveys, and advertising companies who help us promote our Services. We may also share your data as needed for security, legal compliance, or as part of a corporate restructuring. Lastly, we can share data in other ways if it is aggregated or de-identified or if we get your consent.

  • When data is visible to others on the platform by default

Certain features and functions of the Service shares or makes your information accessible to others. As with most online services, once you make your Personal Information available to others online, it may be collected and used by the recipients or any other website visitor without restriction. You may wish to use a nickname or alias in your profile if you do not want your personal information shared with others in this way. For example, your personal information may be visible to others in the following circumstances:

  • Data on a public spaces of our Platform

OppScen has features for social networking platform which allows users to post, share, text and read feeds. When you post a feed, question or answer to the Service, your profile, which could includes your name (either nickname, username or display name, you can control which name to be used on display your account details), as well as the content of your posted comment, is visible to others on the Service. Anyone can see public data on or off our Platform,  such data includes your display name and your profile fields and details as well as your timeline, connections (“Friends”) groups you joined, photos, forums and your documents you uploaded. However we decided to secure your confidential details such as birth dates, emails and addresses or location from being publicly visible by anyone for safety and security purposes. We collect the information for legal reasons and communications between you and us.

Public data can also be seen, accessed, reshared or downloaded through third-party services such as search engines, apps, websites and other services that integrate with our Products.

  • Content that others share or reshare about you
You should consider who you choose to share with, because people who can see your activity on our Products can choose to share it with others on and off our Products, including people and businesses outside the audience that you shared with. For example, when you share a post or send a message to specific friends or accounts, they can download, screenshot or reshare that content to others across or off our Products, in person or in virtual reality experiences such as OppScen Spaces. Also, when you comment on someone else’s post or react to their content, your comment or reaction is visible to anyone who can see the other person’s content, and that person can change the audience later. Even the content you upload on Library page you can choose audience to see the content.
People can also use our Products to create and share content about you with the audience they choose. For example, people can share a photo of you in a timeline, mention or tag you at a location in a post, or share information about you in their posts or messages. If you are uncomfortable with what others have shared about you on our Products, you can report them or block them.
  • We may share data with your consent.

We do not share your Personal Information with third-party organizations for their marketing or promotional use without your consent. In some instances, you may be able to grant us permission to share your Personal Information with authorized partners, not-for-profit organizations, and other entities that are not affiliated with OppScen . In these cases, we will only provide to these third parties the information you have authorized or asked us to share to these third parties. You may also choose to share content with others by email, or by posting OppScen content to social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. These third parties may use your information as described in their own privacy policies

  • To Power Social Media Features

The social media features in the Services (like the Facebook Like button) may allow the third-party social media provider to collect things like your IP address and which page of the Services you’re visiting, and to set a cookie to enable the feature. Your interactions with these features are governed by the third-party company’s privacy policy.

  • For advertising and listings

If we decide to use an advertising-supported revenue model in the future, we may use and share certain System Data and Usage Data with third-party advertisers and networks to show general demographic and preference information among our users. We may also allow advertisers to collect System Data through Data Collection Tools (as detailed in Section above), to use this data to offer you targeted ad delivery to personalize your user experience (through behavioral advertising), and to undertake web analytics. Advertisers may also share with us the data they collect about you. 

  • Partners offering goods and services in our Products

When you subscribe to receive premium content, or buy something from a seller in our Products, the content creator or seller can receive your public information and other information that you share with them, as well as the information needed to complete the transaction, including shipping and contact details.

  • Vendors and service providers.

We provide information and content to vendors and service providers who support our business, such as by providing technical infrastructure services, analysing how our Products are used, providing customer service, facilitating payments or conducting surveys.

  • Researchers and academics.

We also provide information and content to research partners and academics to conduct research that advances scholarship and innovation that supports our business or mission and enhances discovery and innovation on topics of general social welfare, technological advancement, student education, public interest, health and well-being.

  • For Security and Legal Compliance

 We may disclose your data to third parties if we (in our sole discretion) have a good faith belief that the disclosure is:

  • Requested as part of a judicial, governmental, or legal inquiry, order, or proceeding;

  • During a Change in Control

If OppScen undergoes a business transaction like a merger, acquisition, corporate divestiture, or dissolution (including bankruptcy), or a sale of all or some of its assets, we may share, disclose, or transfer all of your data to the successor organization during such transition or in contemplation of a transition (including during due diligence).

Marketing and Sponsored Content

Notices from OppScen

We may, from time to time, send you email regarding our products and services, or other third party products and services we think you may enjoy. For example, if we partner with a not-for-profit organization running a contest in your region we may send you an email notifying you of the partnership or contest. We will not share your information with the third party unless you opt-in to participate in the partnership or contest, and if so, the information we would share would be limited to that needed to facilitate your participation in the contest and enable you to redeem your prize. You can unsubscribe from these mailings at any time with unsubscribe link in our email footers

Please note: From time to time, we may display YouTube video content created by third parties and not by OppScen , third party content may include advertising which we cannot control.


We use appropriate security based on the type and sensitivity of data being stored. As with any internet-enabled system, there is always a risk of unauthorized access, so it’s important to protect your password and to contact us if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.

We take an appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of your personal data that we collect and store. These measures vary based on the type and sensitivity of the data. Unfortunately, however, no system can be 100% secured, so we cannot guarantee that communications between you and OppScen , the Services, or any information provided to us in connection with the data we collect through the Services will be free from unauthorized access by third parties. Your password is an important part of our security system, and it is your responsibility to protect it. You should not share your password with any third party, and if you believe your password or account has been compromised, you should change it immediately and contact our Support Team with any concerns.

Your Rights and Safety

You have certain rights around the use of your data, including the ability to opt out of promotional emails, cookies, and collection of your data by certain third parties. You can update or terminate your account from within our Services, and can also contact us for individual rights requests about your personal data. Parents who believe we’ve unintentionally collected personal data about their underage child should contact us for help deleting that information.

You may always decline to provide your Personal Information with OppScen . Registration is not required to access most of our online resources. If you decline to register, however, We will not be able to provide to you certain features and functionalities found on our Service. You may later enable or access those features by providing OppScen with the necessary Personal Information.

You can chose to provide only information which does not reasonably identify you to others. We recommend you select a username which is not related to your actual name, for example. You can also decline to provide any optional data in your public profile.

Revoke Intergrated 

You may revoke OppScen’s access to your account on any Integrated Service, such as Google, LinkedIn or Facebook, at any time by updating the appropriate settings in the account preferences of the respective Integrated Service. You should check your privacy settings on each Integrated Service to understand and change the information sent to us through each Integrated Service. Please review each Integrated Service’s terms of use and privacy policies carefully before using their services and connecting to our Service.

Delete or Export Your Data

To request deletion of your personal information at any time, please log into your account and select ”delete your account“ through Settings. You can contact us to delete your account for you. Please note that your information will be retained in backup for up to one week. If you log back into your account within 24 hours, your account will not be deleted and you will need to go through the deletion process again.

We may not be able to delete data in all instances, such as information retained in technical support logs and other business records. We will not be required to delete any information which has been de-identified or disassociated with personal identifiers such that it can no longer be used to reasonably identify a particular individual.

Unless we receive a deletion request, we will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as is reasonably useful for operational purposes. For example, we may retain certain data as necessary to prevent fraud or future abuse, for recordkeeping or other legitimate business purposes, or if required by law. We may also retain information which has been de-identified or aggregated such that it can no longer reasonably identify a particular individual. All retained personal information will remain subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Updates & Contact Info

When we make a material change to this policy, we’ll notify users via email, in-product notice, or another mechanism required by law. Changes become effective the day they’re posted. Please contact us with any questions, concerns, or disputes.

 Modifications to This Privacy Policy

From time to time, we may update this Privacy Policy. If we make any material change to it, we will notify you via email, through a notification posted on the Services, or as required by applicable law. We will also include a summary of the key changes. Unless stated otherwise, modifications will become effective on the day they are posted.
